Well, SteveCon kicked bottom in a serious way. I played Hero Wars (a latter-day Glorantha game), with Patrick and a guy called Adrian, GMed by Ian Cooper. After that, a Chinese takeaway followed by BtVS, with GB Steve Dempsey and Whollyrandom, GMed by SteveD. Much fun was had.
The Hero Wars game at one point broke down into a Lock, Stock tale of grifters trying to nobble a horse race, but got more heroic after that. BtVS was "the Slayer Down Under", and that's pretty much all you need to know....
When I got back I met up with Marcus on Upper Street, but one of his mates was too young to get into the bar they'd planned on, and in the end we wound up in... Point 101. Well, it could have been worse, but how do we always end up there? It's time to go cold turkey on that place and make a clean break. Marcus stayed over, and the next day I said goodbye at the station, then went on to the ICA, for a talk by Taiwanese director Edward Yang on the digital media revolution. It was an interesting talk, but the room was very warm and I kept nodding off. I also think a lot of the short movies were incomprehensible to non-Chinese speakers.
