Decisions, Decisions
A couple of days ago, I turned down a job in Gibraltar. That's right -- I didn't just not apply, I turned it down. I had the job, but I didn't take it. Some people may question the wisdom of turning down a £12K-ish per year job in sunny, sunny Gib. I had my reasons, though I can't quite elucidate all of them. For one thing, if I was going, I had to be there yesterday -- missing graduation, not finishing the music videos in time... also, the company seemed a bit dodgy. I see on the news today that there's been a money-laundering scandal involving the police, in Gibraltar. Hmm....
So, on Thursday I went to London Bridge and had an interview for a job teaching English in Korea. That went well. I've more or less got the job. I finally managed to get on to Hotmail today, and there's the email saying "I have recommended you for a position... phone this woman in Korea, &c. &c."
All well and good, except the next email was from a post-production company in Covent Garden, for a job I'd forgotten I'd applied for, working in their subtitling department. Hardly glamorous, but it is a job in film, and they do editing too. Plus, I'd get to stay here with all my film gear, my guitar (and my band), with the TV pitches I'm working on with Marcus....
So now I don't think I'm going to Korea, at least not if this London interview goes well. It's all very stressful, as picking one path means abandoning the others (all turn to your Collected Works of Robert Frost now...). Still, it's a step up from not being able to get any work at all.
Graduation tomorrow. Should be toe-curlingly embarrassing.
