Northern Expedition
I've left it a bit last-minute, but I shall be heading up to Beijing for the Easter weekend. I'll be going from Shenzhen. Return tickets from HK are at over HK$4000 - you could fly to western Europe and back for less than that! It seems especially daft when you consider that the tickets from SZ are about half the price. It's not usually worth flying through Shenzhen if the difference in price is only in the hundreds of dollars. You'll probably spend that getting the train over the border. But in this case, it's what is referred to in some circles as "a no-brainer".
It will be nice to go back to Beijing and see CK and my friends up there. And possibly get some cheap DVDs. And bring back my DVD player.
My main task while I'm in Beijing is to post my belongings to myself in Hong Kong. Several boxes full of clothes (mostly useless in HK, being winter clothes), DVDs, books and musical equipment have been sitting on CK's balcony all this time. It's going to cost a packet to post my cymbals but I have a feeling it will still be cheaper than buying a new set.
