I Don't Know What A Terraplane Is, But It's Giving Me The Blues

Over the last couple of weeks, I've been in contact with a girl called Danielle about forming a group to play early blues music - '20s and '30s sort of thing.
She's a third year Chinese student, quite coincidentally, and today I finally met her. We made a rendezvous after class at SOAS and went up to her house in Highbury. Danielle's a singer, and a good one at that, with a voice that really does remind me of the classic female blues vocalists. Also there was a keyboard player who's actually a professional musician, and a guy called Lorne (not too sure how you spell that), who is an absolutely demon harmonica player.

I mean, really, he dives in and out of a song as harp players are wont to do, and he plays with such assurance and capability that it makes you feel like you're playing better yourself.

This group has promise. On a similar note, I've been invited to join a different band as well. I think two groups might be too much, but I'll meet this new guy and see what develops from there. Right now, I've got a load of songs by Leadbelly, Bobby Johnson and Bessie Smith to listen to. It's kind of like having homework.
