7PB = random title

Well, here I am back from Jon's 22nd birthday party, drunk and disgruntled.
I bought him a bottle of (decent-ish) wine in the absence of any other good ideas for a present.
The turn-out was good in terms of numbers but pathetic in terms of partying. Everyone just stood there. And drank a bit and then went home.
Nothing happened, per se. Everyone seemed to be on guard in some fashion - it was unsettling more than anything else.

The cake that a bunch of people (not including me, I should say) was a pathetic trifle of an attempt. Veronica (one of the culprits) said: "We were making it for, like, three hours, but it just wouldn't go hard." Bowls of birthday cake were the order of the day. Endearingly, they'd still put all the icing and stuff on top, as if this would suddenly make it go cake-shaped. Ah, bless...

Still, I met some people at least, such as Anya, a girl at UCL (but never mind) whose father teaches at good ol' U of L. and a Norwegian or two. On the whole, the lack of willingness to partake was just dispiriting. Pfeh. I could have more fun drinking and watching TV.

On the other hand, apparently Emma is going to be down here in London on Thursday. Which is nice...
