First things first.

Apocalyptica ROCK.

They rock so much, you almost fear they're depleting the Earth's rock deposits too quickly and soon there'll be a worldwide shortage of rock.

I didn't think there would be too many people actually dancing - it's hard to a have a frontman when you all play the cello. But their rendition of Refuse/Resist changed all that. Goddamn.

They ended with "Hall Of The Mountain King". You've got to have cojones of ralidium to finish on Grieg, but they pulled it off.

As Sean said right after the gig, "I've waited a long time to hear Nothing Else Matters played like that."

Interesting how the cover tunes function as a kind of metal karaoke - gotta love that audience participation.

It really was an amazing concert. The thing is the sheer volume of sound - fuller and more rounded than you'd find in a guitar-driven band, the harmonies filled the room. It was overwhelming.

Apocalyptica = Rock
